Medical Student Clerkship

We offer four-week, ambulatory-based clerkships for fourth year U.S. medical students who plan to apply to our program, as well as a third year, core outpatient family medicine rotation for medical students from WUHS, UCLA, USC and Loma Linda University. Clerkship opportunities are not available for international medical students/graduates at this time.

The clerkship emphasizes preventive care for all ages with a focus on health for the underserved in a multi-cultural city. Students will see patients with faculty/residents and independently (under the supervision of the faculty/residents). Additionally, there is a daily didactic conference series in which clerkship students are expected to participate.

How to Apply

Please email the following application materials to Anna Hall at at least eight weeks prior to the desired start of the rotation:

  • Personal statement answering the following questions:
    • Why are you interested in family medicine?

  • Medical school transcripts
  • USMLE/COMLEX board scores
  • Curriculum vitae (please make sure to include any language fluency)
  • Preferred rotation dates (please list top 3 choices with date ranges)

Note: Rotations are in high demand and fill up quickly; they are offered on a first-come-first-served basis and at the discretion of the faculty
