TAKE A TOUR

Adventist Health White Memorial’s Pharmacy Residency Program provides residents with a comprehensive training experience. Located in the Boyle Heights community of East Los Angeles, our residency programs provide healthcare services to a federally designed medically underserved community. Our residents are passionate, motivated and united in our mission to bring health and wholeness to the community in a spirit of compassion and humility.

In addition to a variety of acute care rotations, we also offer leadership training, community outreach opportunities and well-being resources. Pharmacy residents graduate from residency program prepared to work independently in clinical practice.

Why Choose Our Pharmacy Residency?

Our Pharmacy Residency Program offers advanced training and diverse experiences. Pharmacy residents can expect:

  • Multidisciplinary collaboration: We’ve designed our Pharmacy Residency so that pharmacy residents and medical residents learn side by side. Residents also gain specialized, advanced knowledge in sub-specialty disciplines, such as through rotations in Critical Care and Cardiology.
  • Access to the latest technology: Through the Lyman A. Brewer III MD Simulation Center, residents can practice all the necessary skills needed to pass their boards. Pharmacy residents can access the Simulation Center 24/7 to practice medical codes and other mock scenarios. Medical directors work directly with the Simulation Center to ensure that residents can practice any board-related simulation they need.
  • Diverse, comprehensive experience: Pharmacy residents work in a medically underserved community—as a result, our patients often struggle with medication access. We work with the hospital to reach out to patients in need and ensure they have all the appropriate medication they need. Pharmacy residents also have opportunities to staff different clinical shifts and serve as preceptors to pharmacy students.
  • Involvement in decision-making: Residents are active participants in the improvement of our Residency Program. As part of leadership training, residents are involved in many decision-making processes and attend committee meetings such as the Sepsis Task Force, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Task Force, Glycemic Task Force and others. Our residents have coordinated several events, including accreditation survey preparation, residency showcases and open houses.
  • Emphasis on resident well-being: Academic success is important — but we understand that residents needs time to recharge. We have multiple well-being resources available to prevent burnout and promote residents’ wellness. Residents have access to counseling services through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), plus opportunities to attend well-being retreats and complimentary access to our fitness center.
