340B Prescription Drug Program

The 340B Prescription Drug Program supports our role as a safety-net provider in offering vital healthcare services in the communities we serve. The program is only for hospitals that provide a high level of services to low-income individuals or serve isolated rural communities. In 2022, Adventist Health Bakersfield provided:

• 12.8 million from 340B savings
• 27.7 million invested in the community
• 35.4 million spent on supplemental Medicaid and Medicarey
• 4.2 million provided in uncompensated care

Adventist Health Bakersfield has 254 beds and over 2,100 employees. Kern County is ranked 51, in the bottom 20 percent, of California counties on social and economic factors. Forty-nine percent of the total population is classified as low-income.

The 340B program allows us to have programs and services such as:

• Free immunizations to children of Kern County
• Free dental clinic
• Free health clinic
• Stoke care
• Cancer care
